REVITALIZING A PUBLIC HOUSING COMPLEX
Due to the declining birthrate and aging population, the number of vacant houses is increasing, and apartment complexes built during the high-growth period are searching for ways to reinvent themselves. This project proposes a new way of living in rental public housing complexes. Nikoichi is an innovative design to convert apartment complexes, in which two dwelling units can be re-used by a family.
A NEW DESIGN FOR A NEW LIFESTYLE
In YSLA proposal "Omoya and Hanare", one unit is named Omoya and the other Hanare, The Omoya, core of the house in Japanese, is the main living space. Is the functional, private, and compartmented area with the kitchen, bedrooms, dining and living. The Hanare, is a multipurpose and generous space that can be used in flexible ways. Is a place for connectivity and creativity. In both units the space design partition strategy, based in a three-dimensional wooden system, provides the residents with the necessary furniture to start a new life.
HANARE; THE SPACE TO CONNECT COMMUNITY
The Hanare is a large and flexible space that surges of the need of semi public gathering areas inside domestic spaces. In this space we can connect with the community and reconnect with ourselves. Is a place to exercise, to paint, to work, to develop hobbies, collectively or individually.
FEEL WIDER FEEL BETTER
Generous areas, furniture and connections make possible to engage activities from home. A big table for a dinner, a wide desk to work, a large floor for a yoga session. Omoya to Hanare provides quality spaces for multiple activities promoting healthy societies and individuals.
